{"id":1464,"date":"2010-08-17T17:35:18","date_gmt":"2010-08-18T00:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/?p=1464"},"modified":"2010-08-18T09:22:31","modified_gmt":"2010-08-18T16:22:31","slug":"trees-and-clouds-in-hawaii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/trees-and-clouds-in-hawaii\/","title":{"rendered":"Trees and clouds&#8230;in Hawaii"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I knew I was doing it at the time, but didn&#8217;t realize HOW MUCH I was doing it.\u00a0 Taking an abundance of tree pictures everywhere I go is the norm for me, but I found a new obsession.\u00a0 Clouds.\u00a0 How could you NOT take pictures of big fluffy iridescent clouds?\u00a0 Well, when I started to go through my pictures, I realized that I documented just about every day and nights worth of clouds (if they look good during the day, just imagine what the sun going down does to them!).\u00a0 Not just once, but about 87 times.\u00a0 They keep changing!\u00a0 Yes, you can see all the justifications loud and clear&#8230;. So&#8230;here&#8217;s my weeks worth of clouds, trees, and a few other things thrown in too (you know&#8230;in <em>front <\/em>of the trees or clouds)\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"663\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Houston took this 1st one below of me&#8230;the 2nd and 3rd ones are the one I was taking (trees AND clouds!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"672\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The next day we took off in search of one of the only 2 &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Papakolea_Beach\">green sand beaches<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"447\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The hike was a little like the energizer bunny&#8230;.it kept going, and going, and going&#8230; With no green beach in sight.\u00a0 I love how my brother optimistically packed a bunch of beach towels&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 5\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what we finally saw.\u00a0 Now let me just say.\u00a0 After walking for about 90 minutes, in the wind and orange dust, I was hoping for some neon bright GREEN SAND.\u00a0 Does it look green to you?\u00a0 Granted the view was amazing, but&#8230;.not green.\u00a0 We decided not to climb down the steep ridge.\u00a0 In part, because that would mean climbing back UP.\u00a0 So, we turned right back around and headed back.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 6\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It really was the most surreal landscape.\u00a0 On one side of the road was this bright turquoise ocean, and on the other side was this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 7\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Houston took this one of a run down wind farm on the way home.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 8\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The next beach we went to was the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Punaluu_Beach\">black sand beach<\/a>&#8220;~Punaluu Beach.\u00a0 There was no question of it being black, which was a bit of a relief.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"p3-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"H 9\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/H-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then&#8230;because they have been feeling left out.\u00a0 Two cool trees.\u00a0 It&#8217;s so windy there, that a lot of the trees grow sideways.\u00a0\u00a0 Then, some just fall over and show these really cool roots.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1483\" title=\"Tree x 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Tree-x-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"672\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Tree-x-2.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.laurenkahanphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Tree-x-2-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This next shots is one of my classic &#8220;hold the camera over your head and push the shutter&#8221; shots.\u00a0 A lot of times, those are my favorites!\u00a0 I guess that doesn&#8217;t say much for my &#8220;eye&#8221; looking through the view finder&#8230;hmmm&#8230;.
